B2B Solution Strategy for rural supply chain
The client is an incubator of network enterprises targeted at linking products and services from under-served areas of India to urban markets. It is incubating about six such enterprises in areas such as handicrafts, furnishings, body care, packaged foods and rural BPO.
Problem
The client intended to set up a rural supply chain to link the markets to producers. In this context, the feasibility of setting up a B2B exchange had to be explored. This had to consider the products from the various sectors and current state of B2B market in India.
Solution
We have defined a solution strategy for business-to-business exchange that is suitable for rural producers. It suggests a roadmap for improving the maturity of rural producers to use the exchange. It also includes a facility to generate loans to finance working capital requirements of rural producers. This can be implemented by setting up a loan gateway on internet that will link financing institutions to rural producers and rating agencies.
Benefits
Improving producer operational maturity and implementing loan gateway and B2B exchange can remove inefficiencies in rural supply chain. It can in long term improve the livelihoods of under-served areas of India.
Process Monitoring Solution
The client is a leading apparel manufacturer serving international retailers. It deals with knits, wovens, and home furnishings. It has more than a dozen production units spread across India producing more than a million garments per month. It is a recipient of many awards and certifications.
Problem
The client has implemented ERP for production and supply chain management. It uses made-to-order approach in managing its production. The client has a challenge in monitoring production in order to effect in-process corrections. The process of monitoring data collection and entry was error prone leading to delays in getting management reports.
Solution
We have defined a process monitoring solution to improve efficiency of production and optimize the cost of operations. This solution connects shopfloor, planning, and business intelligence departments and provide visibility of production across the processes in apparel manufacture.
Benefits
This has deskilled the process of data entry. It has reduced the errors in data collection and entry leading to increased accuracy and quality of decision making.
Fund flows in Government
The client is a government planning organization who disburses planning funds to downstream agencies to undertake various government programs. It is managing nearly Rs 70,000 crores of government funds each year.
Problem
The client wants to ensure that funds reach the grassroots with minimum delay. It should reach the right person, at the right time, and get used for right purpose.
Solution
The proposed model involves replacing the current hierarchical mode of information flow with a hub and spoke structure. There would be a technology platform which would be used by all organizations in the fund flow to allocate and track funds. The fund flow would happen through existing mechanism whereas information flow would be through the platform. An external agency would be set up to manage the platform as well as offer fund flow related services to the registered organizations.
Benefits
This can potentially bring about greater transparency and visibility to fund flows. It can provide for greater efficiency and effectiveness of government schemes in reaching the grassroots.
